Working closely with both the research and operations teams, the Computation and Data Specialist will be responsible for specifying and overseeing BioPACIFIC’s data structure, including a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELNs), and associated connectivity of people and equipment to these systems. The Computation and Data Specialist will also work with the BioPACIFIC computation team to create data pathways between BioPACIFIC data streams and existing research data platforms such as BisQue and Citrine, and with outputs from biomaterials computation and simulation workflows. The Computation and Data Specialist will also work with the computation researchers to set up the appropriate metadata infrastructure necessary to support machine learning algorithms and visualization methods. The Computation and Data Specialist will work with UCSB’s Center for Scientific Computing to manage the computing and storage resources supporting this data framework. BioPACIFIC is seeking to hire a User Coordinator to lead BioPACIFIC’s User Program. Through administration of this program, the User Coordinator will (1) drive the recruitment of a diverse community of external users to the BioPACIFIC platform through both remote and in-person marketing activities, (2) work with the education leads to coordinate user education and training activities, such as the BioPACIFIC summer school, (3) coordinate visits by external researchers to BioPACIFIC, and (4) highlight key achievements from the BioPACIFIC user community resulting from utilization of the platform.
