Expanding Model Peptoid Characterization through X-Ray Scattering and Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics Simulations

Project Description

Peptoids, or N-substituted glycine oligomers, are a class peptidomimetic materials offering peptide functionality with enhanced stability that can be leveraged to explore sequence-structure relationships in disordered materials. Through this project, we aim to explore how patchiness, or consecutive stretches of identical monomers, and chain length in peptoid sequences influences hydrophobicity-driven compaction. To do this, we will combine small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and dye assays with atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations to explore molecular structure.

Our work at BioPACIFIC MIP supports the rational design of adaptable materials with tailored properties, establishing principles to guide the development of next-generation materials for applications requiring precise molecular control.
