Elucidating Morphology-Property Relationships of Block Copolymers

Project Description

Herein we have synthesized a library of twenty-two functional block copolymers wherein the relative block lengths are systematically varied. We observe both a range of morphologies via TEM, and changes in the mechanical properties and performance of these functional materials. With the high throughput capabilities of BioPACIFIC MIP’s small X-ray scattering facilities, we aim to elucidate more specific structural information about each of the copolymers in this series (domain spacing, degree of long-range order and type of morphologies achieved) to elucidate relationships between the material’s morphological structure, durability and performance.
