Decoding the Impact of Monomer Sequence, Structure, and Composition in Materials Properties via Automated Synthesis

Project Description

This project investigates the influence of monomer sequence, structure, and composition on polymer properties using a combination of experimental synthesis and computational modeling. Advanced simulations modeled the effects of monomer sequence and hydrophobic content on polymer size, revealing branched architectures without aggregation. To experimentally validate these predictions, we propose leveraging an automated robotic synthesis platform to precisely control monomer sequence and composition, enabling reproducible and scalable production of polymers with diverse architectures. The platform will facilitate optimization of fluorescence intensity, hydrodynamic size, and solubility, enhancing the development of next-generation materials. Insights gained will deepen understanding of sequence-property relationships and inform the design of injectable, stimuli-responsive, and advanced biomaterials for applications in diagnostics, tissue engineering, and drug delivery systems.
