High-Throughput Synthesis of ABA Block Polymers: Elucidating the Effect of Polymer Chemistry and Block Sequence on Hierarchically Ordered Hydrogel

The hierarchical structure of synthetic hydrogels is critical when mimicking natural tissues. Recent results have shown that synthetic porous hydrogels prepared from rapid injection processing of triblock copolymers result in hierarchically ordered materials where the walls of micrometer sized pores consist of micellar aggregates. Although the hydrogels demonstrate exceptional properties, the effect of polymer chemistry and molecular parameters is unknow. We will investigate the effects of polymer chemical composition and polymer molecular weight on hierarchical hydrogel formation, structure, and properties using the Chemspeed Robotic and micro-rheometer high-throughput synthesis and characterization capabilities at the BioPACIFIC MIP.
