10 Years of NSF Materials Innovation Platforms: 2026 Forum

The 10 Years of NSF Materials Innovation Platforms (MIPs) Forum will take place December 2–3, 2026, at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, during the 2026 MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibit.

The forum will bring together researchers and MIP leaders to highlight user accomplishments and the impact of the platforms, introduce the 2026 MIPs and related Programmable Cloud Lab facilities, and discuss the future of materials research.

BioPACIFIC MIP’s session is scheduled for Thursday morning, December 3. Heather Maynard of UCLA will present a BioPACIFIC MIP overview. The session will also feature research enabled by the platform, including work on protein-targeting acrylic oligomers, biomolecular photostimulators, peptidomimetic polyesters and polyurethanes, and automated polymerization strategies.

The two-day program includes research talks from across the MIP network and panel discussions on education and training, data science and AI/ML, building a user community, and materials labs of the future. Attendees will also have opportunities to connect with colleagues across the MIP community.
