Curated resources, crowdsourced information, and opportunities to win weekly raffles in-person and online through our YouTube Channel (Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships), Apr 28 – June 6, 2025.

We’re excited to bring the Whole PhD series back, this time with an in-person element, starting April 30th at Elings Hall 1605! Each week, we’ll explore a new topic focused on navigating the challenges that lie beyond the PhD—while you’re still deep in it.

Take a break, grab some lunch, and join us for an in-person session designed specifically for graduate students and postdocs! These gatherings are a space to connect, share resources, and explore five key themes supporting personal and professional growth during your academic journey. A few of your fellow grad students and postdocs will join as panelists to share their experiences in what promises to be a thoughtful and engaging conversation.

Each week of the series will also include helpful links and resources to help you stay organized, clear your head, and keep moving forward, both personally and professionally.

  • At UCSB? RSVP to join our lunch discussions
  • At UCLA or UCR? Keep an eye out for the first input survey and join the conversation virtually!
  • From the broader community? Check out the Whole PhD videos on the BioPACIFIC MIP Training programs page

Keep an eye out for the first input survey next week and join the conversation virtually! We can’t wait to see you there!

Whole PhD series is hosted at the University of California, Santa Barbara by the Professional Development Series (PDS) for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at the Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships, the DoD HBCU/MI project (W911NF-23-1-0291; PI David Weld), the NSF BioPACIFIC MIP (DMR-1933487), and the NSF ExFAB (DBI-2400327).
